I think they are already making them again. And I think I saw an Indian dealer in Jefferson, Tx while driving through it.

In 1953 Indian shut their doors. Since then many people and companies has sought to bring the name back. Almost all failed during the legal battles to buy the rights to the name. In 1998 several companies got together and got it right. They began to build Indians, but they were more like Harley clones with indian style fenders. I believe they were using S&S (HD Evo style) engines. In 2002 they came out with their own engine with round rocker boxes (engine tops). The cost of designing that engine and other problems brought the company to it’s knees. 2003 saw the stop of production. It looked like the end of Indian once again..
Stop the press, 2004 Steve Heese and Stephen Julius step in and aquire the rights to the company and it’s name. Late in 2007 Indians are hitting the road again. These 2 guys saved the dying Chris-Craft boat company, another legendary company and decided they could save Indian… lets hope so…

Can anyone answer what the “powerplus 100″ engine is? Just another HD ripoff or S&S motor or what? It seems like it would be hard to make a current “Indian” since production ended in 53, how do you just leap ahead 55 years and know how Indian would have progressed naturally? You just don’t. NOW, if they came out with a current Indian 4, THAT would be cool, especially if it were an upright inline 4.
